alright, i'm still alive.

wheaton pretty much rocks, except for latin. the class is an impossible amount of work if you haven't taken it before and i'm barely hangin in there.  history is so-so, i need to do well on this last test.

rotc rocks my socks off, its so amazing. the guys i've made friends with and the cadre are solid and our freshman class has a lot of great athletes/brains so i'm challenged constantly. PT is getting to be fun, even.

i've gained a sweet 15 pounds since getting to wheaton. woo! spent 3 years in high school trying to gain weight, couldnt, and finally after 8 weeks here i've put it on. yay-ya.

seeing as i know live in VA, i won't be in otown for thanksgiving. EF! as great as college has been for me on a relationship development and spiritual growth basis, i miss the old times with tony and alex (and danny, kevin, etc etc)

but hey, the beach won't be so bad. =)

well its been a while, so i thought i'd post.

this past weekend i went on what's called the freshman experience for ROTC.

it was a BLAST.  we rode 4 hours north to ft. mccoy and spent the night playing ultimate frisbee and ultimate football, along with a worship time.  lights out was 10:30 and wake up call was 5:30.

we proceeded to chow down, then headed to the obstacle course (the other half went to the airborne tower). the obstacle course was smokin sweet, all the stuff you see in the movies with crawling under barbed wire and climbing rope walls, etc.

but then we got to the really cool part. the airborne tower.

after being harnessed up in the most uncomfortable thing imaginable, we headed up a 34 foot tower. now 34 feet honestly isnt that high. however, when jumping out of a building, 34 feet isn't much different than 100. but it was awesome.  we launched ourselves out, counted to 4 and enjoyed the ride on the zipline.

bah, i'd love to do it again right now.

so the weekend was quite the success, and i love myself.

Well, the cat's out of the bag.

For all who don't know, The Tavares Family will be moving to VA beach come early November. I myself am highly pleased, summer should be wicked. Especially since I'll have people at the house just about every week. woo!

As far as ROTC, I totally nailed my PT test this morning. Since two weeks ago when I took it, my pushups increased by 21, my situps by 12 and the 2 mile run by 2 minutes.

That was a $250 APFT.

woo hoo!!
